I see you are a member of the Prostate Cancer forum. Welcome to the Hep forum. Thanks for stopping in! Do you or a loved one have liver disease? My husband is the one with the sick liver. He is very sick, has had Hep C for decades, treated twice since being diagnosed in 2005.
This blog article is a bit confusing. I hope to clear that up a bit with a link for you. I wonder if there is a typo on the year this Vet began having his requests denied. (Perhaps 1995?) Treatment was not approved by the FDA until 1991. I am going to post a link for you from the CDC with the timeline. I hope it helps.
We have Vet's working through the process of getting treatment approval on our forum. The great news is this. The new treatments are in the high 90% cure rate, and we hope Hep C will be eradicated in our lifetime. No one should be denied a life saving medication that is easily available and only denied due to the price of the drug. Not acceptable. Big Hugswww.cdc.gov/knowmorehepatitis/Timeline.htm
