GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A Parachute navy veteran has been fighting Hepatitis C for over thirty years.
Parachute resident Jerry Hammell contracted Hepatitis C in the navy and said he's been refused treatment since 1985.
"I was denied, and I reapplied, and denied and reapplied and denied,” said Hammell.
He fought for three years to get treatment through the VA Hospital, and thought he was going to die before he could get it.
"They put me off to the point where I was starting to have abdominal fluid buildup which is end of case scenario for me,” said Hammell.
