I’m on the first week of taking Sovaldi. I just found out today that studies revealed vitamin b12 is helpful during hepatitis c treatment. I am thinking on taking 1000 mcg daily but I do not know when it would be better to take that: morning or evening? Anyone here taking vitamin b12?

Hi lilaclily
If you are taking ribavirin , it might be a good thing.
I used 800 mg folate, and 1200 mg b-12 when my hemoglobin got below ref range. But please run that by your doctor

And welcome

Hi pmm guy and Lila***y, I didn't know you can take vitamins, my PharMD said that can't take Vitamins or Herbs pills. It seems like it will help if we can take the B12 vitamins. I know going to get a lot of garlic, it helps me breath easier! I start my tx August 31 or Sep 1 2015.

I have come to the conclusion that vitamins bought online and off the shelf are mostly fillers and a waste of money. They make you feel better for a period of time through the placebo effect. After about a month I wondered what the hell I was doing. I decided not to supplement with store bought chemicals from big companies that did not have my health in mind.
I believe the best supplements are fresh and flash frozen raw fruits and vegetables. I use a nice blender to get them into my body in concentrated amounts.
Smoothies and a quality protein powder are a great way to get nutrients in your body.
One of my favorites:
hand full of Blueberries, 4-5 strawberries, two cups spinach/kale, one sliced apple, 20 ounce skim milk, start blender and bring to a liquid state, add three tbsp ground flaxseed or oil, three tsp cinnamon, 1.5 tsp turmeric, dollop peanut butter, three scoops protein powder, banana, makes three 14-16 ounce servings.
To get the best absorption of the turmeric, chew 7-10 peppercorns to a complete mush before or after drinking the smoothie.
Enjoy.
Good luck.

B-12 and folate don't compliment treatment, they protect your heart
From low oxygen intake

The PharmMD , don't want me to take no vitamins or herbs pills. Question : Do you think I should wait to be approved for Daklinza to take Sovaldi. I don't know how long I have to wait, I know I waited for Riba to get approved for 1 yr. I an genotype 2, VL 1.9 ml, Fibrous : F -0 F-1 stage, never had tx. I am 54 , had HCV since 1988. What do you think?

Dee, red meat is not good for us. :( It tastes great though, right. Once a week or so is okay.
Eat baked/fried chicken and supplement with protein powder mixed with skim milk.
I also like the high protein Equate meal replacement cans from Walmart. They are quick and easy.
I mostly supplement protein with a quality protein powder from GNC and mix with skim milk in a shake container. Quick and tasty. :)

I take B12 daily. I also take 4000 mg of milk thistle twice a day, and have been for years.

Also daily:
apple cider vinegar
molasses
fish oil (liquid, not capsules)
brazil nuts

Only thing I have been told to stay away from is grapefruit and alcohol.

18th week of 24 weeks of Solvaldi/Riba, virus undetectable and no side effects, so far.

Fried food is the worst thing you could do for your liver. B12 comes from the earth not animal protein. Green Barley is a good source of B12.
