can anyone tell me if you have a problem with depression or anxiety? I was suppose to do an injection, but the doctor wants me to see a psychiatrist first, will I ever be ready to do the treatments I've already received my meds.

The treatments for Hep c can alter certain chemicals in your brain causing depression. It can happen to anybody at any time. Waiting for depression to go away or telling yourself to be strong won't work. The only thing that will help is anti-depressants. It is a good idea to start anti-d's before starting treatment. So being referred to a psychiatrist before starting treatment is a very smart thing for your doctor to do!

Mimi, I replied to your previous post.  Don't know if you saw it.  Most everyone needs to go on antidepressants prior to treatment as it does cause depression in most patients.  Since you have a history of depression (don't know if you are currently taking antidepressants), you may need higher doses than most.  This is a precautionary measure and doesn't mean that you can't try treatment.

Again, welcome.  You can start your own post by clicking on New Topic instead of Reply.  Thanks!
