Hi everyone. I am here because i am a little worried about HCV.
At the end of February of this year, I was doing my training as a dialysis tech in a dialysis center, and when i finished connecting a pt to the lines, i did not realized that i had blood on my gloves. When i took the first glove off i had a fresh smear of blood in the palm of my hand right below my wrisk... It was maybe one centimeter in lengh, Very small. I washed my hand right away and i applied some sanitizer on the smear site to see if it did sting due to any small scratch, but it did not. What are my chances of contracting HCV.
I believe that that specific pt has HCV.
Thank you for your help and advice.

I belong to the lyme disease group. So i do experience fatigue and muscle and join pain.

The scenario your describing would be a minimal if nothing risk. I would get tested as a precaution simply because of the medical field involvement. Their is lots of caregivers here that come into far greater risk for decades. Can't recall a case of transmission case that was passed via wound to wound. Not saying it isn't possible, but highly unlikely. Thats my two cents worth of thought anyhow. Sure others will chime in as the day goes by.
