It's been a while since I posted. Just an update. I submitted my Dissertation Manual today. My daughter is getting married and working. My baby has grown up!! I'm now working in a jail as a therapist and several have Hep C and or other liver issues. I'm always thankful for this forum's help when Mike and I walked his final journey together. One step at a time!!

Great to hear from you...good luck on your dissertation submission. How does it work now? Do they get to grill you on your submission? I got all my PhD work done then got preggers 2x in 18 months and never finished my dissertation...over 40 years ago now...have always regretted that.

News here: Mike okay, had major back surgery in December but better every day. He had a squamous cell thingie on his face last summer, they excised and he had 6 weeks of radiation. Doing well with both now. My appendix cancer seems not to have metastasized, though I have tests coming up and a trip to MD Anderson in March. Once you have cancer, they check you out often.

We are both going slower these days.

Best Wishes to your daughter and Best to you on your degree stuff...keep us posted.

Hugs,

Sandia,
Wonderful to see a post from you. And such wonderful news! Congrats on submission of your dissertation and on your daughter's good news.

Dougie is doing very well. His sobriety is solid and his labs are in normal or very close to normal. Me, I am doing well too.

Best of luck on the process. Please let us know how you are doing and when we can start calling you Dr Sandia!

Big hugs,
Emma

The defense is typically a formality but I have a committee member who fancies himself a stats expert and is not. He has caused me many weeks of agony. I do have a stats coach from the school who is an expert and who has published two stats textbooks who has helped me. I am editing my Dissertation Manual this weekend and will resubmit (I hope) tomorrow night. The academic reviewer will then look at it. I will make further revisions. Then I'm done with that part. Defense will be within a few weeks. I hope!!

Sandia...this is the worst part I think, the defense....but you have worked long and hard on this and so shold do well. I think one of the reasons I didn't finish the dissertation part was the stats...I had no computer skills (yet) and was mystified by a stats instructor who spoke with such a strong accent he was hard to understand and was one of those brilliant people who can write on the chalk board using both hands...so hard to understand and facing away from the class during all the lectures. Good luck with the tutor...that is a great idea.

All...hoping the winter is treating you gently. I don't check that often these days, but would love to hear how everyone is doing.

We have to learn Statistics software and statistics now. You have to know how to input the data.. push the buttons and interpret the results. It gets interesting. I had to have 8 sessions with a statistics coach. Oh well.

Can't believe it's seven years April 22 that Mike passed away. So hard to believe. Although my life is so different now. Torie and I went and bought her wedding dress last Saturday. Her wedding is March 11th. Wow!

I have to come back once and a while and update everyone.
