My brother's 20 year battle with alcoholism ended yesterday with a ruptured aorta due to advanced corrhosis. When he was hospitalized for a month in 2011, you kind folks were a ray of much needed support, education, and compassion. He never could put the bottle down, though I think he did try at the end. He left this world with anger and chaos, but hopefull his suffering is over. And once our splintered and shattered family picks up the pieces, hopefully our suffering from alcoholism will start to abate too.

I've been losing him for ages, but now even the hope is gone. And my poor enabling mother will have to find a way through the tangled webs of it all. Such an incredible waste of all he could have been. Dark days...

hi ytrewq and welcome back,
hhhmmmm!! qwerty backwards..
So very sorry to hear this news. I read your thread from 2011. I can relate to your story. my twin and I, got hep c in the 60s and we drank a lot. I quit drinking in 1992 and cured hep c in 2013. my cirrhosis healed enough to have a normal functioning liver. My twin couldn't or wouldn't stop. I then had to watch him progress from cirrhosis, to cancer, to waiting for the final curtain. He is not transplantable. he is sober now and doing his chemo.

I do hope you find that ray of light, and you and your family can heal.
I wish you the very best
