Hello everyone!

I recently got my test results back and the doctor ordered HEPATITIS B SURFACE AB, QL.

The results came back with REACTIVE. I got the vaccine procedure done twice. However, i dont think i finished the second time.

Does this mean I'm infected with HEP B? I'm terrified right now. Also, i was wondering why is flagged on my blood test results from QUEST. Thank you!

hi shattered98 and welcome,
A reactive hep B surface AB, means you have immunity to hep B.

It can be acquired two different ways.
1. By passing a past infection
2. from a series of anti hep b injections

If you never had hep b, then your vaccinations worked.
Why were the tests taken? were other tests taken, or was your dr checking thr status of your hep b vaccinations?

@ppm guy.

I don't think I've ever had hep b. I've gotten the vaccinations before.

It was part of an std panel.

Thank you!

sorry I didn't answer your question about your test being flagged. Without seeing a copy of your labs, I would need to see what your index count is..

A reactive test with a borderline index, may cause a flag.

If I had the vaccinations before it will flag as reactive?

The index was non reactive or reactive.

It doesn't matter. You don't have hep b.. and you likely have immunity. Best to you my friend
