Is Fatty Liver a death sentence? If Fatty Liver turns into NASH can it be reversed or is it a lifelong condition? I'm very overweight and take PPI's for GERD. How can I improve my Fatty Liver? Obviously weight loss will help but what other steps can can I take? Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. Doctor says to just lose weight but what if I have let it go for too long?

hi brandono5w ans welcome,
fatty liver is very treatable.

losing weight is #1. stay away from sugary, starchy carbs. watch labels for additives such as any fructose, sucrose. Adding some exercise that you can maintain. absolutely no alcohol for now.

ask your dr to check your liver enzymes periodically. this will let you know how your liver is responding to your efforts. in most cases your liver will heal when your enzymes are normal.

let me know how your progressing or have questions. good luck

Thanks and sorry for all of the questions. I'm just freaking out and wishing I had lost weight years ago. I have like 90 lbs. to lose! Yikes! I just worry it will turn into NASH and scar my liver. Hopefully I can reverse it. Thanks for the reply!
