I stop by every once and a while. I'm in Colorado now after graduating this March with my PhD. My daughter is happily married now in Wisconsin. I got the empty nest and go going. I found out my counseling licensure would not transfer to California. Colorado is the state then. In job search in Colorado currently. Will be publishing some articles from my dissertation. I have been blessed greatly this year. I went on with Mike's pushing and prodding. He supported me in my career efforts. I miss him greatly every day. 2010 seems just a moment ago.

Mama Lama Sorry for your loss.

I am every grateful for the support that Mike and I received on this forum.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!!

Hi dr,
Nice to hear from you.. and congrats on your daughters marriage..
Good luck finding the lucky place that will get your services..

I’m feeling blessed with my 2 young daughters. One girl graduated from Spartan college of aeronautics, and started her career just today, with the Air Force. The other is taking classes, and getting good grades. I’m still battling health issues, but I’m still working out and doing what I can to keep going.

Have great holiday season, and stay in touch

Great to hear from you!! Looks like I'll be working as a crisis counselor in a new pilot project in Colorado. I'm in the process of having my references checked. I did a five state job search. Ugh!! Wow your girl surely has quite the career ahead of her!! Congrats!!

Prayers for your health battle!!

Sandi

Dr. Sandi...

So happy you posted in for the holidays...and that you are officially a PhD, moved, new job, daughter settled...you have the boxes checked! Best to you always.

We are doing well in FL still, but moved 8 miles south to be closer to Alzheimer's sister who needs a good bit of looking after. Trying to decide if/when we need to move her to a Memory Care unit as she is needing 24/7 supervision. She has become an "elopement risk" taking off at odd moments...grocery stores, on a walk, getting out of the car first and blending into the crowd, in ladies rooms. We lost her for 7 hours overnight in Atlanta when we evacuated for a hurricane...the Atlanta police did a wonderful caring job and brought her back to us safely...wet and scared...from a parking garage DURING HURRICANE IRMA!

My Mike is 6.5 years post transplant 3+ years post Hep C treatment and doing well. Playing golf, and determined to read every book in the library and book store. The only cancer recurrences have been on his FACE. Skin cancers are notorious for those on anti-rejection meds. Right now he is using a chemo cream on his nose and it looks a sight...his doc says the med is doing what it is supposed to be doing...ewwww. He has had 3 mohs surgeries on his face with radiation following one of them...so he keeps on top of it, says it doesn't cause him any pain, and he is glad we live in this century where treatment is available.

My appendix cancer stuff seems to be quiet, no recurrences (so far.) I return to MD Anderson for 6 month check in April. They will take pictures of abdomen with special attention to a "something" in my pancreas (ugh).

Hey to all in HW land, patients and loved ones...best to you all for the Holiday Season, whatever your version of a mid winter (mid summer) holiday is.

Hugs,

Mama Lama
