My father has ESLD with severe ascites. He's incontinent and has difficulty moving on his own. His belly is so big, disproportionate to the rest of his body, that we're having issues with diapering him. We've tried pull-up style Depends and the traditional fastener-style, and have had leakage problems with both. How have / do others deal with this problem? Thanks.

Hi Concerned Kid and welcome,
really sorry to hear about your fathers liver disease..

My brother has esld also. his body size, causes the same problem.. but he can get to the toilet, most of the time. He is also taking lactulose 3 times a day. When he has a dr apt, he delays his lactulose, and gets diapered. When he gets in bed he uses a diaper and uses a bed pad for accidents. the bed pad helps a lot with the clean up..Its difficult.

Is your father eligible for transplant?
