I am sad let you know that on February 12th, David, my close friend and a frequent past contributor to Healingwell, passed away. The Healingwell group was a great support to him and he enjoyed being able to provide advice to those who were going through treatment. He died peacefully after having had many good years following his liver transplant.

I am deeply saddened to learn of David’s passing. He helped me so much over the years, especially in the fall of 2010 when my husband was dx with cirrhosis. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his no nonsense posts.

I haven’t been very active on the forum for the last couple of years, and haven’t seen many posts from David recently.

It is comforting to hear that he passed peacefully. Please extent my condolences to his friends and family.

He will be missed here.

Big hugs,
Emma

I will pass on to David's family and friends your condolences and memories.
He was quite a character-- filled with humor, snark and compassion for others. I still can't believe that he is not here.

**David** has not been posting since 2016, likely as his health declined.

He posted on this site almost 3500 times, helping others through their struggles with Hep C and Liver Transplantation. He was a HUGE help to me and my family as Mike struggled to get sober and stay alive long enough to qualify and then make it to transplant.

He and Ziff had a huge humorous thread that continued for years...one has to look for some fun during such a dire time.

Once I even called him at his home when we were in New England. Mike was bleeding internally and we were far from our TP center (U Miami) and needed a referral to a doctor in Boston.

Transplantation extends life....but not forever. Such sad news.

I consider myself fortunate to have came across David here. We had a great time bantering back and forth. I'm saddened by your loss (and ours). We had spoke through the years here on the forum and via telephone. We both stopped contributing about the same time. I have thought of him regularly but figured it best to pass the torch to new folks. I do pop in as I did tonight to see how my former cohorts are. We had a good run and aggravated, Helped and to a point gave uncensored advice to those of us unfortunate to have this disease.
Good to hear he passed quietly. He was a man of compassion and witt. David, Wherever you may be you will live forever in my memories. Love you brother.

Ziff

Great to hear from you...though a sad time...

Mike is good...no crises at the moment. Hope you are doing well also.

Carol, I been doin ok. Lost my best friend recently at the tender age of 72 (Flu). He and his wife had no children. I've been asked to take care of the estate sales to relieve his sisters of the burden. Wife and I been busy sorting and going through the mess. Meanwhile Bill and Sonja are sitting on a cloud somewhere dangling their feet into a stream catching fish, Laughing at me. Dang I miss them both.
As for myself I am still going to UNC for MRI and follow up. They been eyeballing a nodule that is 1.2 mm on my liver. Been there for awhile but seem to be focusing on it more lately. Already had a discussion with Doc about procedure to remove should it grow to 2mm . MELD is still hanging tight at 11 but with potential cancer added to mix will put me up higher on list (If it turns out to be). Never a positive without some negatives .....huhh.
I been watchin ya post about Mike and you. I'd say you two are doing great, Well.... factoring in our ages. Stuff just falls apart after fifty. Anyhow this little piggy got to go to bed. Until next time, Keep fighting the good fight.

Ziff

Not sure why I decided to check in today, but for some reason I was thinking of you all, the piggy humor and the sage advice I got here so many years ago. Boy has life changed. I am saddened to hear of David's passing. Happy to hear Ziff and Mamalama are well,

My warmest regards to all of you,

Marie

Sorry to read of David's passing. I think he was the first to welcome me to this forum , with sound advice and reassurance. That was nearly 4 years ago.

Best wishes for all here,

Zencat

I'm sad to hear about David. He was welcoming to me and had a good take on all things liver related. David, Mama, and Ziff were the people who initially helped me when I stumbled upon this forum many years ago. I always enjoyed the banter between David and Ziff. It brought some smiles to my face at such a low time in my life.

Many blessing to all,
Eyes
