Hello Sisleya & welcome to Healing Well. I saw your post & just wanted to give a bit of input. We have had a couple of members in the past that had shoulder replacement done. Both obtained 2nd opinions with orthopedics that specialized in shoulder issues only. I would urge you to consider doing the same. I am not saying your orthopedic is not a good dr, however, why not see someone that specializes in a field rather than one that does it all. I found this to be true when dealing with knee problems. I very much liked my regular orthopedic, but found seeing a dr that specialized in knees was a game changer.

Other than the normal post-op issues, by the time they were 6 weeks post-op they were very happy with their decision. I can see your concerns with the hip replacement surgery. That's a tough one & some people have many issues afterwards. Try not to compare the 2 different types of surgeries.

Take care.

Thank you for your advice, I will check around and try to find a orthopedic who specialty
is shoulders. Is there a "specific" title for such a Dr.? Or would it be a Orthopedic that
only does, and/or specializes in shoulders ? Again I truly appreciate your advice. Sisleya

Do a google search in your area for "orthopedic shoulder specialist", do not be alarmed if some of them also have sports medicine in the title. My knee dr also had this title. Call their office & inquire if the dr does shoulder problems only, they will not be offended by the questions.
