Hi. I have had autoiummune hepatitis for over six years. I take 50 mg. Imuran daily and my ALT and AST have been under good control. However, recent labs showed a slight spike in these enzymes. This has never happened during all these six years. This showed up in labs three weeks after my second moderna covid vaccination. I am getting fearful that something about the vaccine may have triggered the autoimmune hepatitis to worsen. I was wondering if anyone else with liver disease has had any changes in their enzymes after getting the covid vaccine?
My doctor is having me wait a month and then get enzymes checked again and after he sees those results, we will discuss what to do. I am praying this is just a temporary "glitch" and things will go back to normal. Just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar thing happen. Thanks for any responses and my best wishes to each of you.
Sincerely,
By His Grace : )

I’m sorry that you are having elevated enzymes. I hope that they quickly return to normal.

My husband has cirrhosis due to alcohol. His labs have been stable/normal since he became sober in 2017. He also had the Moderna vaccine. There were no changes in his lab values after the shots.

I had cirrhosis and I have ms, also autoimmune.
I had covid around New Years. It was scary. 16 days of fever and lost 10 lbs. but I got both vaccines. They made my ms flare for 36 hrs, each time, but I’m ok now. I’m glad I did it now. The anxiety about going outdoors is gone.
With your hep being aih, and your imuran med, you need to follow your docs advice.
Best of luck to you
