-I am still trying to get use to this site,
alittle confused ,.,.,.sorry-----
I had a doctor tell me the same, that my liver test was a bit
off,,,but your o.k,,he says--
Why am I so tierd,,stiff ,sore,,morning I wake up tierd,,?hmmm.
I went to every kind of doctor for about a year, untill they
said it must be in my head, and tried to give me prozac---
That was in 87,88....
I had a ectopic preg in 1985,and I think that is when I got it-
I was told I had Hep-c in 2001,
and it seems these last few years things are getting real bad-
Very tierd,,sore joints, hardly can do the stairs in the mornings,
and dark pee,,sickly tummy most days, what fun,.,.,.,
I am 45,,,,feel older right now tho-
I go for an ultra-sound next week,,then on to a biopsy--
O.k enough about me,,,How about you,.,??
Have you had the treatment,,??

Hi, Gale!

I did start treatment with interferon in '93, after a biopsy showed the hep C was chronic active--meaning it was attacking my liver. However, within 2 months, my white count dropped so much that the GI doc first lowered the dose, and then took me off treatment entirely. We tried it a second time a few months later, but this time I took myself off after only a month, as the same thing was happening and I was picking up bronchitis and other illnesses. Aside from fatigue, I felt okay. However, in May of '05, during a yearly ultrasound, I was found to have a cancerous liver tumor--a huge one that was inoperable because it had metastasized. I started going to Mayo for treatment and they have been great. I had 2 different cancer treatments and right now there is no evidence of cancer at all. However, the hepatology folks are urging me to have the right lobe of my liver removed, just to be sure there are no remaining cancer cells. Sometime after that, I will need to have hep C treatment, as I will still have that, and it is what caused the cancer. Right now, I am going through pre-op testing. I will also be having a biopsy since I haven't had one since '93.

They know so much more these days and the combo treatment is very effective, although I know it makes some people really sick.

Good luck and come back here often!!

Gale, an ultrasound can show some things, but not others. I've had so many scans--many of them more than once. At least those are painless--except for trying to find IV access for the contrast medium, which is always a frustrating experience.

You may have to feel worse (with the treatment) before you feel better, but at least odds are good that you can beat the hepatitis with treatment.
