I just started Interferon 4 weeks ago. I am experiencing these above problems as well as some asthmatic coughing problems. I think the people that I'm working with know what's going on, but I think they are keeping me in the dark about the side effects. My tongue feels like thrush, and I'm treating it for that, but it doesn't look that way to me. My tastes have changed, body and headaches, diarrhea from time to time, but this tongue thing is really bothering me. Does anyone experience these things? I won't be eating at all if my tongue rots out of my mouth! Thanks, Jeff

Hi Jeff, my husband experienced some very strange side effects from interferon, including extremely dry mouth and nothing tasted good to him, he had to go on ensure for a while, but even that was hard to get down,,,,,,make sure the dr checks you for infection, because interferon holds back the bodies immune system by lowering the white blood count,,,

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body used up ,totally worn out and screaming"WOOOOHOO WHAT A RIDE!!!"

Jim is the one with ESLD, but I am the one with dry mouth/irritated tongue because of chemo for my breast cancer.
Look into Biotene toothpaste, mouthwash, and drops. It's OTC. There's also a prescription item called "Miracle Mouthwash" that deadens your mouth for a short period of time so that you can eat what you need to eat. Ask your pharmacist and DR about it. It's a combo of 3 ingredients; what they are I forget.
Carry a bottle of water wherever you go. Dry mouth can result in serious dental problems.
Best of luck.
