Hi, I am new here. I had a routine blood test done and discovered my liver enzymes to me high (AST-56/ALK-85)
so the doctor ordered more blood tests and asked me to have an ultrasound. the ultrasound showed my liver to be "slightly enlarged"
however all the hep tests including iron come up negative, she could not find anything.
What other ailment can i have that might be causing this?

Since the liver acts as a filter, it can be affected by alcohol, anti-inflammatory drugs, or anything that is toxic to the liver.
Ask for another liver profile and hepatitis testing in a month or two.

thanks for the reply. Im so scared.. They don't dont know whats wrong with me. The docs want to send me to a specialist. I'm just hoping for the best. Im assuming that having high liver enzymes and enlarged liver would mean my liver is actively fighting some virus.

Welcome to the forum. I know it is scary when the doctors tell you that they don't understand what is going on, but seeing a specialist is a good idea. As Connie said the liver can be effected by all kinds of things so someone with this specialty like a GI or hepatologist may be able to help determine what if anything is wrong.

Good Luck
