Well, the ol' guy isn't entirely gone. He still graces me with his presence several times a day. But nothing like what I was before starting this new miracle elixir cure-all tablet. Just kidding. It's called VSL#3 and I swear upon swear that this is the only thing that has given me some semblance of relief lately. It's been almost a month since I've been on it. Today I had a miraculous 4 bathroom trips. That was UNHEARD of in my former life. I want to scream to the world - today, my butt is not in pain!!!

Granted, I am also spilling protein in my urine, which could indicate renal insufficiency, for which I will jollily hop over to my new nephrologist and probably end up getting a kidney biopsy on the same day as my physiology exam. Hmm...maybe I could do the exam DURING the biopsy! "Give me some more of those things...whatever they are, the Versed works okay as well...yeah, bring 'em on. But first let me interpret this EKG." HA.

Just wanted to touch base with the good news. Seems I've been so dreary-smeary lately. I've missed you guys and will try to be on to answer questions as best I can :)

That's wonderful Sarita. Now what are you going to do with all your free time?  (just kidding tongue )

When I googled VLS #3 it said "VSL#3® is intended to be used under the supervision of a physician.  Please consult with your doctor prior to trying VSL#3®."  Just curious if you know why?

I thought that was a probiotic. What is it?

Wow!  Four times a day???? That sounds almost (dare I say) normal!  Some folks in the natural medicine fields tell me that four times a day is IDEAL!

So what is this "miracle elixir" and how does it work?

It is a probiotic but it's extra-special with 8 strains of bacteria that must be heaven-sent because I haven't been this "normal" in years. I swear, I haven't been a garden hose in at least three days! It is truly amazing! You can get it at some pharmacies...

It's undergoing FDA approval for the use of IBD and IBS. Very promising results so far. Here's the address: www.vsl3.com. Man, it's a bit expensive (I think it was like $50 for a month's worth) but my goodness it is worth it...

I too would like to know why they are so adamant about it being used under a doctor's supervision. Maybe some FDA rule they have to follow so they can call it a medical food?

What a miracle!  How did you find this magic probiotic?
