Just had my colonscopy yesterday and a friend suggested I put the Fleets phospho soda in apple juice and amazingly enough it was quite easy to get down. Just thought I would pass it along. I had used Gatorade in the past but this worked very well and very tolerable. Good thing since they found polyps so that means a repeat in 2 to 3 years assuming a clean biopsy.

Hey thanks for the tip! I usually pour it over 7up, downing it as fast as I can swallow. Then I chase it with a glass of grape coolaid, followed by thoroughly brushing my teeth. And lastly a stick of gum! And after all this, I am still shuddering at that awful taste! These suggestions were given to me by my former ET nurse (had a temp ostomy once)......

But apple juice might work better!

So thanks again.

Make sure they are both cold. I really was pleasantly surprised not that I would want to do it every day. LOL Should have thought to brush my teeth.

ooo...i'll try that one next time! I can't drink ginger ale anymore since that's what I usually take the Fleet's in.

If you pour only 1/3 of the phospho into a full glass of clear cold beverage at a time then you won't taste it at all or notice the oily consistancy of it either...doing this 3 times in a row will get an entire 45ml bottle down, as you're suppose to take it with plenty of fluids anyways, then follow with plenty of water. After basically 17 yrs of doing preps this is the easiest way to deal with phospho soda.

Serendipity, I had never heard of Prograf and when I looked it up I found it was an immunosuppresant drug that is very dangerous and used for transplant patients. I am posting this link as even though it is a miracle drug for you it seems like it is not a drug that should be taken lightly.

Better yet is the Pico-Salax prep.  It's a palatable orange flavor and the amount of liquid you have to drink is small.  This is my new favorite prep drink :-)

Not available in the US. You only have to drink 1 and a half OZ of the Fleets in 4 oz of something. You only do this twice. I looked up the Pico as I hoped of getting it but then forgot. Pico has made some people really sick from what I read but don't remember where.

I have to say this was pretty easy with the apple juice. I was dreading it from other times. I had no cramping and it didn't take too long to clean out once it started though it was slow in starting. Now if I can just get down the rest of the apple juice without thinking about it.

I just googled Osmoprep. It is made by salix so not sure it is available in the US but in any case it sounds like more work than drinking the little bit I had to. It takes 32 pills and you take 2 and drink 8 oz of fluid every 15 minutes the night before. I think you take half that night and half the next day. I stopped reading after that. That is more work than I went thru. Also, it has the same warning as the Phosho soda about kidneys, etc so I think I will stick to the Fleets cause it wasn't bad this time.
