Ok read about Seattle Treatment center. Sounds too good to be true. Have to pay up front then get reimbursed by insurance so that isnt an option for me anyway. But if they can test for the allergies and find the causes of all these patients IBS then why cant my DRs. here??????? I really dont have the funds to travel or do this testing all the time anymore. If this testing and diagnosis is sooo good, then I guess all Drs. should do it. Has anybody had the type of testing they do done? It is not just the  normal allergy test they do here. If so did it help you control your IBS? I go to another specialist here tommorrow. I am desperate to find a solution for my IBS. Cannot live like this anymore. Gonna take copies of Seattle IBS treatment centers suggestions and hope I can work with Dr. here.

Hi Normal,
I'm wary about a treatment center that does not post a physician's credentials. Looks like the Seattle center is run by a naturopath, which is fine, except that he does not state that on the website, and that strikes me as somewhat deceitful. A naturopathic physician (N.D.) has a lot of training, and can prescribe some supplements and medications, but is not licensed to practice the full scope of medicine. There is a very well-known naturopathic medical school in Seattle, though; if I were you I'd just do more research and not jump into anything, given your financial situation.

As far as food allergies...there are skin tests and blood tests that your doc can run. I had some done back in the day and was told I was "sensitive" to some odd things like zucchini and green onions or something like that. I don't even remember, but I do remember staying away from those foods to see what would happen...and found no change in my symptoms. Other people get "food allergy testing" done and stay away from whatever their "sensitive" foods are and swear by that. always, it varies from person to person.

I've lived in Seattle for 20 years and NEVER heard of this place before a poster came here and talked about it.  I've been to several naturopathic doctors (graduates of the highly reputable Bastyr College) and not one ever suggested or mentioned this place.  My last GI doc, the #1 guy in town, sent me to a holistic clinic for additional help yet never mentioned this place.  My PCP, whom I have seen for 20 years, never heard of this place.
It might be legit, but because I've lived here so long, and have run in the "holistic" circles with people who should know, I am skeptical.  I am also out of work right now (and consequently, insurance) so I can't really check it out.  I'll file it away for future reference.

Thanks so much for your reply. I was really not sure about it. I question anything that doesnt deal with your insurance. I realize it is just a matter of finding what helps you. I just got really scared when my liver enzymes were bad, afraid it was too much medicine. If tylonol affects your liver then what about all of the other. Since I have never had allergy test done it cant hurt to see if that will help. At least I got another idea from the Seattle IBS center. Thats all Im doing anyway is just trying to get suggestions so that I can try to improve my quality of life. I always run it by my family Dr. first, even if specialist suggest something. I know and trust my family Dr. Sorry to hear you are out of work gutastrophe. Seattle use to have a good state insurance when you were out if work. That was years ago, do they still have that. Thanks guys, wish me luck wtih Dr. today.
