I hope that I am posting this is in the right place!
5 years ago when I was pregnant for my 2nd child I started having this horrible pain in my left side just under my breast generally right after eating, the pain can get so bad that I feel like I need to lay down to make it feel better.  Needless to say, I still hae it and it seems like its getting worse! When the pain is going on, if I run that area it seems to make the pain a little more easier to deal with.  I always have gas and normally after this pain subsides it ends with horrible gas cramps and diarrhea.  I have not been to the doctor for this (insurance reasons) but it is really worrying me!  Does this sound familiar to anyone!  Please help or tell me what OTC medication I can take to help this!

I don't think there is any way anyone can tell you what it is but have you tried the various gas pills available when you have it. Have you tried taking something like Pepcid before you eat. It sounds like gas so iwould try some of the Simethicone pills. You can take them before or after you eat. Have you tried something as simple as Rolaids. If you don't have it other times it must be gas related and probably nothing to worry about but to be sure you should see someone if it is that painful.

Sounds like what happens to me alot of the time, I have diverticulosis, just got over a bout of diverticulitis. There is no real way to tell without testing. I know you said you have insurance problems, but I would get a colonoscopy that is the only sure way to tell what is going on with the colon. I am only 40ys old and this is the first it has happened to me. 2x now in 6 months I have gotten diverticiulitis, they did the colonoscopy and found that i have severe diverticulosis. It is no fun when the infection hits, and severe enough will land you in the hospital like it did me. I have not found any OTC meds that help with this. The pain is always there slightly. So for your own piece of mind I would get the test. Good Luck

Yes, in fact that is what I found everytime that I did a search about this pain!  The other scary thing is that colon cancer runs rapid through BOTH sides of my family!  Hopefully this will not land me in the hospital before I get some insurance!  Thanks a bunch for your response!

Hi littlebee11,
I would search the internet for free clinics in your area, just in case.  Sure, they might not have specialists, but at least you would have somewhere to go until you get insurance.
Good luck.
