I have been battling IBS for 8 years now, and have tried everything. It got to the point where I would not eat because I knew that eating would make me feel worse than being hungry. My doctor has recommended many different things and I have tried them all. Including probiotic capsules, Activia, etc. The latest recommendation she had was Stonyfield Farm Yogurt. She told me that another patient had said it worked really well. I have been eating a serving of Stonyfield Farm Yogurt every day for the past three months and I am thrilled with the results! Activia had worked okay, but was still not 100% effective. But, ever since eating Stonyfield Farm Yogurt, I have seen a drastic improvement in regularity. It is like clockwork. Every day. This has never happened -- ever. It keeps my stomach feeling better in general and I could not be happier. If I have a sudden bout of severe abdominal pain I will take peppermint, ginger, and fennel oil capsules from "Heather's Tummy Care" and they work like a charm to settle the abdominal pain. They can also be taken daily to avoid pain. I found her website: and Stonyfield Farm Yogurt a lifesaver.

I've tried Stonyfield also. Had it faithfully everyday for a while. Then it wouldn't work as well for me. If there's one thing I have noticed is, it's this - nothing ever works 24/7 - forever, for my situation anyway. I remember buying the large tub sized vanilla flavored Stonyfield (much cheaper). I would then add a teaspoon of honey to one serving - it was so good!

The other organic yogurt I've tried is Brown Cow. Very good too - similar to Stonyfield.

I read somewhere that organic yogurt is higher in acidopholis (Stonyfield and Brown Cow were among the organic brands mentioned in this article).....

Stoneyfield is my preferred brand of yogurt--that or the Greek Fage, which is hard to find.

Stoneyfield boasts that they put an extra probiotic in their yogurt, so that may make the difference. They're also lower in sugar than many other yogurts, which can be helpful for some people with IBS; if you have a bacterial overgrowth, especially, sugar can feed the bacteria and make them worse.

The pills also help with gas and indigestion. I don't take them all the time but I usually remember to take before a heavy meal when I go out and they do help.
