Hello, since last year I've been having some real issues in the bathroom. I've had to go alot and have seen "thread" looking things, or downright wormy looking things. They are either yellow-whitish or brown. Sometimes one, sometimes many. I've had two stool samples run and both came back negative for parasites. The last doctor I saw said she thought I had irritable bowel syndrome. So I am wondering if anyone else diagnosed with irritable bowel sydrome has seen what appear to be parasites in their stool.

Did you take a sample that you know had the wormy things in. If not the next time you see them for sure keep a sample and call your Dr for a request or better yet, have them give you another request and keep it till you see what it is you are talking about. It is strange that they didn't see anything but that also doesn't sound normal and certainly doesn't sound related to IBS.

Has anyone checked you for pinworms?

It could also possibly be mucus from your GI tract. It can sometimes show as 'thready'.

If you've been suffering from any type of BM that has irritated your intestinal lining, your body could/would produce more mucus than normal to help protect those inner layers of cells.

Mucus is always present in our stool, but only noticeable when our GI tracts produce more to protect themselves from what they preceive as an irritant/toxin, etc.

Really hard to know what it is you're this is just another possibility to consider.

Thanks for the replies. It really seems like something other than irritable bowel syndrome to me, but so far I haven't had any luck getting a result. I tried to get a sample at the right time... I don't know what is going on.

I once had something that I thought was worms. It was mushrooms that weren't fully digested. blush
