I am suffering from Proctalgia fugax, I have been to the doctors and he has said that there is no cure, I get daily pain which is most intence after I have been to the toilet, If I have a nights rest i feel better in the morning but, once I go to the toilet the pain comes back, I have had cream to try to deaden the pain without success, Does anyone have any suggestions that I can try that could help with the symptoms or pain.
Thank  confused

I have also suffered from PF for several years.  I often thought it was related to food as it tended to show up after some types of meals.  Usually spicey with alcohol.  I recently narrowed it down to onions.  I know most would scoff but I've confirmed it many times....not saying it is the cause of the disease just a significant way of increasing its affect on me.  I find when it gives a warning twinge that relaxation techniques and mild messaging just before sleep helps. If it does flare up fully I have not found any way of reducing the pain except advil and waiting 30 mins.  Interestingly, I found out what it is called in the last few days by searching the internet and just reading about it makes a mild form of it show up.....power of suggestion....

I know it might just be a personal incompatability on my part but try an onion free diet for a week and reply if it works.

Good luck.
