I've been having nausea and abdominal pain for a year now. There hasn't really been constipation or diareaha accompanying it. I've have had just about every test done on me and nothing has shown anything. My doctors have given me the diagnosis of IBS, something I'm not too satisfied with.

My symptoms have quieted down a bit but about a month ago I ended up in the ER after being woken up out of a dead sleep with the worst pain I've ever had. After being told there was nothing wrong, I was sent home. Now in the past few days my pain has been so excruciating that I want to scream. Is this sort of thing normal?

I went to the doctor to say who was going to do a laproscopy, but can't do it now. It's just left me frustrated with no where to go from here.

I wanted to get the opinion of those of you who know this syndrome the best.

A laparoscopy of what? They do gall bladder laparoscopys but they usually do some testing for gall bladder first. No, I would say what you are experiencing in not normal for IBS but could be for gall bladder. If you have had an endo and a colonoscopy and CT scan of abdomen and pelvic area then they need to check the gall bladder.

They've done both blood tests and a hida scan on my gall bladder.

I've had 2 ultra sounds, one of my kidneys and one of my pelvis, a CT scan of my abdomen, 2 endoscopys and a colonoscopy, a gastric gemptying study, and blood tests for seliacs disease and who knows what else.

They were going to do a laproscopy of my pelvis to check for endometriosis since it can sometimes present itself this way and it runs in my family.

Hi Orlo :-) ,

Sorry to hear you have pain and nausea ... I'm in the same boat as you.  I've had these symptoms along with bowel "issues" for 6 years now and after exhaustive testing, including a laparoscopy where they found endometriosis, I've been given the IBS diagnosis which I also question.  Pain is my worst symptom and I have been on and off amitriptyline for it.  I also get alot of right sided pain right over where the appendix is, do you also?

Sounds like your doctor did all the right tests to screen serious ailments out.  Not sure if you know this or not but a laparoscopy is the only way to diagnose endo and then they can remove it (it can grow back sad ) and give you drugs to treat it.

Good luck and hope you find an answer soon.

Yes, I know. They've done the ultrasound and are for some reason calling that good.

I have pain everywhere, it moves around constantly but usually it's in my lower abdomen. Last night I had terrible pain on my right side but for the couple of the days prior, I had it on the left!
