I have had IBS for about 3 years now and it has been really severe lately. I got a stool test a couple years ago and found that there was an imbalance between beneficial e.coli and haemolytic e.coli. I took a bunch of probiotic stuff to try to help out my gut, but nothing seemed to help. Just wondering if anyone else has had results like this from a stool test, and if they had any effective solutions.

You could look into taking olive leaf extract.  Or enteric coated peppermint.  Both are said to kill bad bacteria.  Talk to your doctor and see what they think of course.  Call your local health store and if the person working there is knowledgeable, and not just a salesperson, they should be able to give you some info. on these two things.  You can also read about them on the internet.  Just do your own research before taking either as I offer these only as suggestions and everyone responds differently to things. If you do decide to try the olive leaf, I recommend taking less than the bottle suggests and working your way up very slowly as when the bacteria starts to get killed off, there can be a herxeimer effect and you don't want to go too fast or it will make for discomfort as the bad stuff dies off and is flushed out.

  Take care,
