I have been having problems now for a while with abdominal pain and passing mucus with my stool, and sometimes on it's own.  I have recently had a colonoscopy and they didn't find any ulceration or inflammation so put it down to IBS.  Does anyone else have this problem as I didn't think it was very common to pass mucus with IBS.

Thanks,

Hi Vicky,
Welcome to HealingWell!  :-)
Have you officially been diagnosed with IBS?  Do not worry, it is actually quite common for IBSers to pass mucus.  However, as mentioned just about everywhere... *Anytime your bowel movements change, always consult your doctor.*

Check out some of these posts referencing mucus:

dealing with mucus

Rectal mucous

Mucus in stool

Mucous passes with no stool

bloody mucus

Thanks Lil. I had read somewhere that only people with IBD passed mucus. Thanks for the links to the other posts.
