I would say the usually that is from a motility problem and you should ask your doctor as there are drugs that will help with that. The longer food stays in the stomach the more acid is produced. They can test you or just try the drugs.

Well...I'm not really sure I fit here. My previous doctor (deceased) suspected I might have IBS (but didn't actually diagnose it - just talked about it being a possibility) about 20 years ago when they also found diverticulois. Then about 13 - 15 years ago I was diagnozed with GERD. Then about 4 years ago I was diagnozed with gastroenterititis (at which point he again talked about suspecting IBS but couldn't really diagnose it because of the GERD and diverticulois and gastroenteritis). 3 years ago I was finally diagnosed with GERD, hital hernia, chronic gastritis. This past year I have a return of IBS symptoms. I never really noticed any constipation issues until after major surgery this past summer. Since then, I have suffered from constipation and IBS symptoms along with a dramatic increase in GERD, gas and gastritis. It is not resolved. There are better and worse days.

A couple of years ago stomach doctor ruled out motility problems, and did so again last year (Jan 2008).

Looking for help as well.
