Hi

I just stopped taking a PPI for gerd. I stopped cold turkey, and the gerd symptoms are fine, but now I've got constant abdominal pain from gas. GasX helps some and so does ginger root tea, but does anyone know of something that will help to prevent the gas from forming in the first place? Has anyone tried the Digestive Advantage products with any success?

Hi Jan,
Welcome to the site! :-)
From past experience I think the majority of the people on here who have tried DA have liked it. Me being 1 of them (DA for IBS was great!). I think it was Canyon who mentioned taking the DA for Gas and liked it. I got a free sample and after it ran out I didn't keep up with it. I do intend to, eventually.
Along with the ginger root tea, mint and fennel tea work well too for gas. At least, they do for me.
As far as preventing the gas... you need to watch what you eat and how you eat. Chew your food thoroughly, do not talk too much while eating, don't use a straw while drinking, and stay away from gassy foods. Beans and raw veggies especially.  Too much sugar can cause gas too.

Hi

I tried the DA for gas today and I think it helped some. I had sent for the free sample a while back but hadn't tried it. The problem is that I couldn't find it in the drug stores, and no one knew anything about it. Maybe it's not available in Canada yet, or I should try a health food store. I also bought some digestive enzymes and Beano to try.

Thanks for the advice.

Jan

Try looking for the DA online. I found it to be the best and cheapest way to get my probiotics.

They say that it takes a while to start working and that you may have more gas the first few days so try it for a while before you buy it. I also use the peppermint, ginger, fennel capsules from Heather's website especially if I am out and have forgotten to take other pills.
