Hi everyone, I'm new here and was "kinda" diagnosed with IBS.  Basically everything was ruled out so this was what was left.  I was constipated for about a month and a half and my main problem was I felt this sausage shaped lump in my lower right abdomen.  It didn't really hurt, but it does move around (however mainly maintains the "sausage" shape, seems to change shape whenever I go to the doctor - wierd).  There was no blood in my stool (did a fecal) also had a CT which was negative.  However does anyone else feel a "sausage" shape lump in their abdomen.  I swear I can feel my colon and if I leave my hand on it, it moves (gas????).  I've just started going to the bathroom regular again.  Have a few abdominal cramps, but nothing too terrible.
Basically I want someone to reassure me that it's normal for IBS so I can stop worrying that it's something worse.

are you actually grabbing your colon?- I believe they actually make sausage from the sheep casing -which is there intestines- so the shape you are describing does make sense. Thats about all i can offer. I am not a doctor so I would only take this comment with very little seriousness and speak to a certified doctor to get the best answer.

Sounds like you might have a hernia. Those can cause odd, bulging lumps in the colon area and can be hard to spot on tests. I have a friend who had one at her bellybutton, and they thought two more, but when they got in there, I think they found five--so I know you can have trouble finding them.

They also cause constipation when they strangle the intestines. My friend had had the bellybutton hernia for some years, but it started to get bigger and possibly the other ones developed, and she started having constipation and other intestinal distress at that point, because they'd got either so big or so numerous as to start affecting her intestines' ability to empty.

It's a pretty easy thing to fix surgically. Just a matter of pushing them back in and darning up the little hole in the muscle wall or whatever that's letting it poke through.
