I went to my gyno last Thursday and she felt what might be a fibroid tumor. I went yesterday and got an ultrasound done but it didn't show anything wrong. All it showed was that my uterus is extremely tilted. I know the doctor felt something and it caused alot of pain and I have all these symptoms. I dont understand what is going on unless maybe the ultrasound didn't pick it up for some reason but the size of it that my gyno said it was you would have thought it would have showed up. Anyone have any suggestions on this issue?

Have you been evaluated for endometriosis? Unfortunately, the only way to diagnose it is with surgery. It doesn't show up on MRI's or ultrasound.

IBS and fibro go together, many women have both. You can get more information on endo by googling the "Endometriosis Research Center." If the symptoms fit, make sure you do a lot of research before you agree to a treatment.

Your doc could have felt scar tissue or adhesions. During surgery, my doc found that adhesions were pulling on my uterus and causing it to tilt backwards.

Lupron, hysterectomies, and pregnancy do NOT cure endometriosis for most women.

Did you have a regular ultrasound, or an internal one? I'm given to understand that an internal ultrasound is more accurate when it comes to looking for female problems. Those are usually done by a gynocologist.

You should ask your gyno what other tests you should have. If she's sure she felt something other than a tilted uterus, she'll know best what to have testing look for. Of course, she could have been feeling something in your colon; it does lay on top of your uterus.

I'm sorry you may have a fibroid, they can be really pesty! Do you have symptoms of a uterine fibroid? I had one removed in 05, along with a cystectomy.  I was having awful pain and discomfort and when the doctor went in during surgery the fibroid was connected to my uterus and the pelvic wall. Mine was quite large, and so was the cyst.  So no you can't always see, you need to have the lap done so that the doctor can go in and take a look.

Good luck.
