I have IBS and I don't take any supplements... Should I be taking a B-complex and multi-vitamin?

Any other vitamins?

I take vitamine B-complex. The B Vitamine level is often to low in people with gut disease. I also take calcium/magnesium caps and vitamine c, fresh from a citron.

I take a generic multi-vitamin because I take a med for my guts that interferes with the fat-soluable vitamins, like A.

If you have diarrhea, take Caltrate 600 w/ vitamin D because calcium is naturally constipating. If you have C, it's generally best to avoid calcium because of the constipation problem. If you need calcium (ask your doctor), then look for one with a lot of magnesium in it, because the magnesium counteracts the constipation factor. Needless to say, people with D should not take magnesium unless told to by a doctor; it will make the D worse.

I have a really limited range of foods I can get away with eating, so I take the Centrum one to help with anything I might not get enough of.

I read somewhere that liquid vitamins were best, capsules are next best and tablets aren't as good because of all the stuff padding them out. (I assume they mean things like talc, which binds them together, or lactose etc.) But I take Centrum because that's the most comprehensive multivitamin I can find and I can just get it in the supermarket. I've seen other kinds, but I'm not really sure if they have all the stuff I'm meant to take.
