I've been having odd symptoms for the past three weeks. It first started when my entire family got sick with the stomach bug. We all got it and then got it again. My husband and three kids eventually bounced back, but I didn't. I did not have any diarrhea. I had an overactive bowel and I was going to the bathroom a lot but it was all formed. Seemed like I had a nervous stomach. I'm going through some personal issues now that have caused me to be a little more nervous and I definitely feel the butterfly feeling in my belly a lot. I've always been told by doctors in the past that I have IBS, although I've not had any formal testing or scopes. I still do not have any diarrhea. I also don't have any cramping, nausea or lack of appetite. But...I keep passing these odd stools that appear to have blood in them because its salmon colored. There is also a little blood on the toilet paper. I do feel hemmorhoids(internal and external) and my doctor confirmed I had them. She gave me some suppositories for the hemorhoids but that only made me feel more irritated. I had two stool tests and they were both negative. I was originally concerned I had c.diff since I had it twice before. The doctor was guessing it was due to being on an antibiotic. The c.diff episodes were about 2 years ago. But the stool tests this time showed negative for c.diff and no blood, no parasites, no WBC or RBC. But this "material" I keep passing is strange. It looks tissuey but its reddish. I do get some normal solid stool with it too. I thought the weird material might be mucous. When people say they have mucous in their stools, what color is mucous supposed to be? I have an urge to get to the bathroom too. Most times its just gas and other times its gas and this strange material.
I know I'll need to make an appt with a GI specialist. My primary care doctor is on vacation this week. Not sure if I need her to make the referral. But in the meantime I'd like to get other peoples opinions on what could be wrong. It would seem like I could have crohns or UC except I have no pain, no cramping and no diarrhea. I have more normal stools when I increase my fiber. I'll still pass odd material, but not as much. I'd also like to know what a negative stool test can rule out.
