Hi Ice Cream & Tomato,
I have the same problem--when you can't eat much because it doesn't agree with you, it becomes difficult to gain weight. Have either of you been tested for leaky gut syndrome?
Leaky gut was the cause of my laundry list of food intolerances, resulting in diarrhea/abdominal pain, and constipation. With leaky gut, food
is not digested correctly, causing malabsorption issues. The Candida takes some
of the nutrients before the gut can absorb them. This leads to slight
mal-nourishment/weight loss. Secondly, large, under-digested food particles are absorbed by
the gut. Those under-digested particles make their way into the blood stream,
triggering an immune response by the body, which results in a food sensitivity. The body sees the food as an invader. I find that I have to eat
fresher, nutrient-dense foods, or I am hungry because of this. Right now, I am limited to 2 meats, fish, 3 gluten free grains, and a half dozen fruits and vegetables. I don't tolerate breads, vinegars, canola/sunflower/safflower/nut oils, dairy, and nightshades. I'm starting a program with a nutritionist shortly to address the issue.
I hope you find some answers!
