Can anyone tell me why you might have rumbling sensations in your rectum? It's been occuring for 4 days now, followed by blood in my stool. I have IBS and I have had rectal surgery about 2 yrs ago for a prolapse. I know I don't have a tear or hemmoroids. I spoke with my doctors but it will be 5 wks before I get a colonoscopy but I am getting a fecal blood test done now. Not that it is going to tell me why this is occuring. I am pretty sure it's not cancer but I do think I have something wrong with my rectum. The blood is bright red and it's on my stool. I have burning pain as well but it feels like it's coming from my kidneys ????

I'm glad you're scheduled for a scope, sorry you have to wait 5 weeks. That seems too long. Can your GI get you in for a flexible sigmoidoscopy in the mean-time? That will get him a very good look at your rectum and sigmoid colon.

She's booked up until then. Will the colonscopy give a good look at my rectum as well?

Yes a colonoscopy would give your GI doc an excellent view of the rectum and piece of mind the entire colon was examined.

If you opt for a colonoscopy, make sure you are cleaned out very well so the walls are clearly visible.
