Good question. I just read an article in a women's magazine featuring Dr. Oz, and how he recommends daily intake of flaxseeds to lose weight (which isn't the reason you need it I'm sure). The article did state that starting on a full dose will cause GI upset so it's best to start out slow. I've suddenly put on weight and experiencing daily hot flashes, on top of my IBS woes. Dr Oz touts this flaxseed regimen (just grinding the seeds and sprinkling them in yogurt on cereal) as extremely beneficial. I wonder if it's expensive.
What do you have to lose? Just buy a small amount, use your blender or coffee grinder to process the seeds (you can also buy them ground already but the article seemed to stress buying flax in seed form for the most benefit).
If you do try it, check back in with us. I'd be curious if you noticed it calmed your gut, etc. And reduced constipation.
