I'm new to this internet forum but I feel as though this is the only way I'm going to get the support that I need at this time.
Here's my story,
27 year old female, Issues with stomach, BM's all my life. In fact, I was born with hemorrhoids. I've been to a number of GI specialists over the years, as my pain became more intense beginning in 2007. Doctors said it was stress, life changes, lack of fiber, etc... I tried everything from a Gluten Free Diet to hypnotherapy. The problem was that I was uninsured each time I was seen by a doctor up until 2010 when I came to work for a well known University/Hospital. In 2010 I had a colonoscopy and 2 weeks later I was mailed results in that told me that I needed to have more fiber in my diet and to take a laxative each week basically and I'd be fine. I began a rather strict regiment of Laxatives, Stool Softeners etc, all of which I feel intensified the pain I felt at times. 2 years later, February 2012, I began noticing blood in the stool as an additive to all other symptoms. I went to a Hemorrhoid treatment center where I was told that I needed to see a surgeon right away due to the Anal Fissures I had. (Which I had never even heard of before)
The next day, I saw a surgeon who told me that I was fine and to do the sitzbathes and it would go away on it's own... It did, however came back just as badly within 2 weeks and I've been experiencing this every other week since February. After going to the ER due to the pain my back and abdomen I was referred to another MD who ordered the Colonoscopy, again. This particular MD cared about ME, and gave me results while I was in recovery. He suggested that I see a collegue of his due to his expertise. Naturally I was livid, thinking that I was being pawned off yet again, but I saw him last week. He feels that I have "Colonic Inertia" and suggests that I have surgery to remedy this. I am scared to death and do not know what to decide. I've heard several horror stories and also good news. Right now, I'm currently on day 2 of the Sitzmarker test, I have not had a BM since my colonoscopy 2 weeks ago and I'm absolutley miserable. I have to wait until Friday to be able to take anything to assist me in having a BM.
Basically, I would like some views from others, maybe you're experiencing the same things? Gone through it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, I'm on day 2 of the marker test, and I have orders to have a "Defography" 1 week after the sitz. I have already had the mobility test, which I failed...
