I just started the Specific Carbohydrate Diet today.  Wondering if anyone has had any improvement on SCD.

I've had IBS-C since 2007, been gluten-free since 2007. Have had monthly yeast infections for 1.5 years.  Taking Linzess since mid-Feb 2012.  Tired of feeling sick all the time.

I believe several members on the Ulcerative Colitis forum have tried it. FYI, the UC forum is quite active. Although I do not have the UC diagnosis, I've read topics over there and sometimes posted on topics. They are a nice bunch of people. You might find the answers you're looking for on that forum (if the diet helps people). The UC forum is where I heard about the Renew Life Probiotics.

I've started SCD 25 days ago and I can tell that there's a slight improvement. But I needed to wait for it almost 3 weeks.

I would suggest that you go 100% grain free... ALL grains... gluten alone may not have been your problem.
After 15 years of ibs I finally gave up grains...then made VERY poor choices and started in cheating a bit here and a bit there... Brown rice and quinoa you can maybe eat after several months of grain free.
My ibs completely cleared up...after 15 years. It took between 3 and 4 months to be 'normal' again.
Grain free is challenging to say the least because all of our addictive 'comfort foods' are made of grain.
Anyway, its just a thought I thought I'd pass along. Most people are not willing to give them up, even if it means getting over their ibs... But I am hardly one to judge (and am not meaning it that way) because the morning I decided to eat one whole entire donut was like an alcoholic saying "Just this one won't hurt me."
My 2nd time detoxing getting off grains again is MUCH worse... I am still paying the price, but I WILL be ok again.
I want to wish you lots of luck... you might want to consider checking out (if not buying) the book called Wheat Belly ... you will never look at grains the same again! :)
It would be wonderful if the SCD diet works for you!!

Hi, Bettsann.
I've read Wheat belly and Wheatbelly cookbook and I've tried about 2 months without grains but it wasn't enough.

I hope SCD will work for me. I see some improvement every day. smilewinkgrin
