I was diagnosed with IBS many years ago by a so called "worldwide IBS specialist"!! I suffer from upper GI problems and a bit of constipation here and now. I had no investigations by this guy with the exception of an ultrasound. THe only thing that I would attribute to IBS is lower bowel pain that I wake up with ( not all the time though) and can sometimes be relieved by breaking wind but it has usually gone by the end of the day. I was led to believe that IBS gets worse as the day goes on and that mornings people were usually better. Is this something that any of you experience?
I'm just not convinced that I have IBS but I've been put in this bracket for many years. I always thought that IBS was diagnosed once all tests came back negative. My upper GI tests carried out at another hospital revealed gastroparesis, ulceration (now healed with PPIs) and a very floppy LES. I've completely lost confidence in my GI.
Do any of you have any ideas or similar experiences?
