Just thought I'd share an interesting article that I came across called

"A brain in the head, and one in the gut"

http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/08/24/healthscience/snbrain.php

Take care everyone!! :)

If you read up on "The French Diet" it advocates eating slower not just to improve digestion, but to help you lose weight. The idea is that your stomach has time to tell your brain that it's full before you overeat. Also, they eat a lot of fat (mainly in dairy products--not a lot of meats) which allows them to feel full faster and stay full longer. I have definitely noticed an improvement in my hunger problems. Now I just need to shrink my stomach down to normal size again (as opposed to "super size") to start losing weight. This may be something that people want to try, since it often means smaller, slower meals which might help some types of IBS. While the French don't snack between meals, it's allowable in our circumstances; I often leave part of my lunch or breakfast for later in the day in case I get hungry then.

Despite adding a lot of fat to my diet, I have not gained any weight.

Mom's IBS Can Affect Child's Care

*Being a mother, I can fully agree with this article.  I get really concerned any time my son has a stomachache... I'm usually asking him... "do you feel like you have to go?  do you have cramping?" and then I start getting these feelings like my son is going to suffer like I have also.
