I figured that I should share some news about a new alternative to colonoscopies.

I work in a healthcare distribution facility and we are expecting the final approval from the FDA to come any day now for a new colon cancer screening test. It uses a stool-based DNA test to test for colon cancer and high-risk polyps and has a 92% accuracy in detecting cancer (and the many of the 8% were false positives, not false negatives). I believe that the method for detection was derived at the Mayo Clinic.

It's non-invasive (and no prep) and we can ship it direct-to-consumer, so you don't even need to go to a hospital to get it done.

Just figured I'd let you all know about this after all the help you've been to me.

Sounds interesting!

Panic Patty................I hear ya! But I think I'm more afraid of doctors than cancer! They're running pretty neck-n-neck for me though.

Is this a brand new colon test? Because I have seen a test that is just like your description about 5 yrs ago..
So is this test your talking about recommended as highly as the colonoscopy testing they are using now?
Just curious.. I'm suppose to have a colonoscopy in about a month.
Of course the new testing would be my preferred method.. (That's a no brainier)..👍
I have not heard any news on this yet..

I don't think this test is a good thing because if you have polyps you want them removed before they become cancer. You have no idea if you have polyps unless you have a colonoscopy. They are so easy now with new preps, nothing like they used to be. To me this is like a smoker getting a chest x-ray and finding out they don't have cancer and lighting up when they leave. Colon cancer is preventable with proper surveillance.
