Hi.I am after advice on behalf of my Aunty who is going out of her mind. She has been diagnosed with delayed stomach emptying and irritable bowel. She eats and either brings it up about 15 minutes later or feels very sick. She has terribe stomach cramps, trouble going to the toilet and has lost alot of weight. She has had many tests and the GP has said theres not alot he can do though there is an operation which if fails can lead to permanent diaorrhea. She is suicidal.I cant believe nothing can be done to at least give her some rest from it.Has anyone else got the same symptoms? She has tried a different diet too.She has been ill now for months and months and its not getting any better. My mother did her a little Turkey sandwich with some water cress and watched as she bought it all back up 15 minutes later. She walks around with a sick bucket in her hand. She is quite a tough woman normally and certainly not one who moans.ANY INFO WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU JOHN.

Hi John, welcome!
It is so nice to see people coming here on behalf of a loved one.  It is so important to have family support.

Is your aunt sure she has IBS?  What sort of tests has she done?  Colonoscopy?  I haven't seen anyone with IBS throw up that much.  Could she have Crohn's (or and intestinal blockage) or a gallbladder problem?  I know you said she's been tested but this just seems fishy that her doc hasn't offered much help.

What sort of operation is the doctor talking about?  (I don't know of any operation that would stop someone from vomitting.)

I'm sorry I am not of any help.  I really just wanted to welcome you and say how wonderful it is to see you trying to help your aunt.

I hope someone will be along shortly who can help.

Best wishes.

Hi John,
I would be really curious to find out what kind of tests she has had also. It almost sounds to me like she has a blockage of some sort. Although everyone is different in how long it takes for digestion, fifteen minutes is not a long time at all I think for someone to be sick. It doesn't seem like the stomach has even a chance to start breaking the food down.

Hi John.

I have been diagnosed after many many medical trials as having "Gastroparaesis". It is very hard to deal with on a day to day basis and I miss a lot of school. I have nausea constantly and get bad stomach problems after eating.

Why are you interested?

Jess
