I got the results back from the Endoscopy & Colonoscopy that was done on my daughter.  It's negative for Crohns Disease & Ulcerative Colitis.  He did say that she has Acid Reflux & gave her Prevacid.  He also said that she does have Ulcers on her rectum & inflammation.  Now I'm fustrated because he just gave her Prevacid & said we'll see how she does.  She only once complained about burning in her chest so I don't understand how she has Acid Reflux.  What about the D & C and all the cramping I loosing weight?  I feel like I want to scream.  He took her off the Pamine that she was taking for the D.  So what does she do when she has another attack?  I'm just very confused.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry for all your frustration. Unfortunately, many docs don't treat us, IBS patients, with much care and effort. I don't know if they don't know how to help us, if they think it's all "in our head" or if this is the best they can do. It sucks really... I think we've all been there.
If the Pamine was really helping her D then maybe you could go back and ask for another RX. Ask why he did not prescribe it again. If he won't give it, ask what she is supposed to do.
Does she suffer from C as well? If not, you can always try giving her calcium to help control the D. Just a thought.
I'm sorry I can't help you with the acid reflux problem. I feel like I have it but my docs say I don't (I still take Prevacid though). I would suggest monitoring your daughter and making sure she takes the Prevacid. It is important because it helps mend the damage in the esophagus from the reflux.
Take care and best wishes to you both.

I was looking up info on Prevacid & see that it also used to treat ulcers. She does have Ulcers on her Rectum so I guess this is why he wants her to try it. I sure hope it works.

Prevacid is very good as long as she doesn't suffer any side effects. I have a sis who can't tolerate it, it gives her terrible D. Watch for that (hopefully it won't happen).

I had a bad gall bladder and had two different doctors in two different countries give me something for acid reflux. Have no idea why, since the only thing that ever caused me heartburn was breakfast sausage and the only thing that caused me indigestion was pork rinds. Needless to say, the antacid did nothing to improve my gall bladder or bile diarrhea. But then, my endoscopy came back clean. Did the Dr. give you the actual pictures and show you where the acid reflux damage is?

He didn't have copies from the Endoscopy but he did give me ones of the Colonoscopy.
