Hello -- occasionally, just before a bowel movement, I have incredibly
searing pains at the anus. The best way I can describe it is that is feels like
someone is taking a sword and turning it up inside me. Sometimes the pain
is so intense that I fall over and wait until the bowel movement stops (or
readjusts). Once a doctor (this was a long time ago) said this could be an
anal fissure. Sometimes it happens more when I eat corn or rice, but it
doesn't happen regularly. In fact, there ar etimes when I would eat corn and/
or rice, and I would never get these pains. Is it an anal fissure? Or something
else?

Hi Star,
Welcome :)

You can actually have both IBS and a fissure. What you are describing though sounds more like a localized pain in your anus. This would indicate to me that you have either hemmhroids or fissures however I am not a doctor so I can't give you a dx. I would definitely talk to a doctor about this because you can get medicines for hemmrhoids and with fissures, if left untreated can get infected.
Take Care

Hi Star,
Welcome to the site!
I have a friend who had anal fissures and the doc gave her some cream and told her to eat more fiber. If that is what you have, you could try getting more fiber to help your bowel movements move easier.
But, like dbab said, none of us are docs so you should probably speak to one about this.
Take care.
