Well my mom has had several bowel obstructions and 13 surgerys to remove adhesions. She is in icu now because of a bowel obstruction she had surgery done 3 weeks ago and after that surgery everthing seemed to be going well then she had two perforations in her small bowel back to surgery she had the surgery on sat now she has another perforation in her small bowel. She so skinny and weak she is only 65. Do any of you no can you live without a small bowel? My god this has been a total nightmare. Can really use some help

Hi Pam,
I want to welcome you... I can understand your concerns and I am really happy to see that you care so much for your mother. Unfortunately, I don't have much advice to give on this subject. I have not had any bowel surgery done before. We do have an ostomy forum on this site that could probably be of a little more help to you. There is a drop down box above these posts that currently says Irritable Bowel Syndrome. If you hit the down arrow, you will have a list of forums to choose from (in alphabetical order) and you would just choose Ostomies. They have a wonderful moderator and members there who I'm sure would be happy to help you. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.
