My doctor had me cut out my iron in my vitamins because of the problem with constipation since I suffer mostly with C.  I have been really tired lately and not sure if I'm not getting enough iron in my diet (in fact I know I'm not because all iron rich foods are triggers for me UGH).  My doctor never said anything about how to get iron by other means and when I asked him about injections, he said that is the last option however did not seem concerned about testing me.  I did get a physical a few months ago however I don't know if they tested my iron levels at that time.  This was all done through my GP.  I'm wondering now if I should just go to my GI about this however I feel really silly seeing a specialist about a possible iron deficiancy when my GP should really be taking care of this.  I may consider looking for a new GP (oh, I hate looking for a new doctor anything) but how does anyone else with C get their iron?

Des, I don't really know the answer to this one, but you should definitely be able to go to your GP and tell them you would like them to check your blood iron levels.  It is a simple, cheap blood test and there's no reason they shouldn't do it, especially if you're feeling symptoms of iron deficiency.  Also, a lot of other deficiencies can mimic iron deficiency.  Are you able to eat any sort of veggies, V8, etc.?

I can't tolerate a lot of veggies... only some... almost all green veggies (so full of fiber and iron) are triggers for me. V8 makes me cramp just thinking about it. I will give my GP a call and request this be done. I have to go in again for a cholestorol blood test again so I will ask if they can check at the same time. I don't think that its any other vitamin or mineral deficiency since I do take a multi-vitamin, plus calcium citrate, plus vitamin E unless my body is not absorbing them correctly. Thanks I will check with him again.
