Hi folks -- I've been reading a lot about peppermint oil capsules being usefull for treating the symptoms of IBS.

I have two questions regarding them:

1)What are people's experiences with them?
2) Do you have to take them continuously even though your IBS may not be bothering you or can you wait 'till you notice the first sign of a recurrence before you start taking them.

Many thanks folks.

Sorry for the multiply identical posts. If an admin sees these, can you please delete all but one of them if it's not too much of a problem. Thanks!

Hi Googlebot,
Just thought I'd add a subject to your thread. :)

I don't take peppermint so I can't help you. Hopefully someone will come along who can.
Take care.

Hi.  I tried the peppermint oil capsules and the only thing I noticed was nice smelling burps.  I took one capsule 2x/day for about 1 month so maybe there is a more effective way but I didn't notice any difference.  Let us know if you try them how they work for you.

I take Gas-X (which has peppermint oil in it) and it seems to help with the bloating and gas at the moment. I too burp niceness when I take these.

Hey there! I tried the Peppermint oil enteric caps and they digested in my stomach. The enteric coating is supposed to keep them from doing this but it did not work for me. Because they broke down in my stomach, I experienced severe heartburn and acid reflux....and yes, I was also burping peppermint all day long......I will never take another one again......I guess you just have to try it and see how it does for you, personally.
Hope this helps and good luck!

Thanks so much for the responses!

I bought a bottle today and plan to try it for 2 months. I figure the worse case scenario is that I have pleasant smelling burps! LOL

Ah, that's all I need -- yet another reason to burp in public ha ha ha.
