Well, I'm usually in the Allergy forum, but have been watching you all for quite a while watching for something that might help me!  I have IBS-C...just saw a Colon Surgeon and he has put me on Librax.  Which helped tremendously.... but I was also in the middle of a colon cleanse for the first time in my life.  I think the two together worked great, but now that I'm done with the cleanse it seems to not work so well.  It is still keeping the gas and bloating down somewhat, but I'm having difficulties in the bathroom again.

Has anybody taken this drug?  And I'm wondering if there is something inexpensive to take along with it.  (Of course I'll check with the doc if I get any suggestions!)

Thanks and looking forward to becoming a part of this forum!

Hi Shelley, welcome to the IBS forum!
I'm not on Librax so I can't help you.... I just wanted to say "hello." Hopefully someone who can help you will come along shortly.
Take care.

Hi Shelley,
When you have IBS-C, the anti-spasmodic is only beneficial for the intense cramping so its doing its job. I used to take Levsin (another anti-spasmodic) and it worked great for that. As far as the difficulties in the bathroom, since you are IBS-C I am assuming you are not going? Have you tried Zelnorm yet? There are other rx options, but I'm sure your doctor will probably suggest that you try that first and probably adding fiber to your diet.

Hi Shelley. I also have not tried this drug but I go back and forth from C to D. I take 10 Metamucil capsules per day as well as drinking prune juice regularly (yuck!). Let us know if this drug works for you, I'm ready for an alternative.

Wow!  Thanks for the quick replies!  I was very suprised that my doctor didn't start me out on Zelnorm!  Can the two be taken together?  The one thing that I'm so affraid of is not being able to go....over the past two years I've become very, very sick!  I'm allergic to absolutely anything that is not all natural...food wise, shampoo, lotion, chemicals, etc.  So, I've been to tons of different specialists.  Finally, I gave up for now and decided to try the colon cleanse...the second day on it I was in bathroom for quite a while going...but that didn't matter to me, it actually felt good!  And that day, I made it through the entire day without get an upset stomach, nausea, and just plain feeling like I was dying.  IT WAS AWESOME!!!  Then, a couple days went by and things started to plug up again (may I mention that when I first got sick I had the big D 20 -30 a day for 6 months),  so, that's what made me decide that some of this sickness had to be caused by my "delayed gastric emptying"...so I was on this forum reading about the PILCAM and that is what prompted me to call the doc.  They sent me over to the specialist that does it in town...he said he wanted to try these meds first.  Bingo!  He told me I had a spastic colon...so, on my journey will go to find out all that I can do to help with it.

I truly, truly believe that most of my allergies are from toxins building up in my body for so long and that I need to get them completely cleared out.  Hopefully this will help.  Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Thanks alot,

Shell
