Has anyone tried a holistic approach to treatment as opposed to western medicine? What are your thoughts on the subject? Holistic means natural cures using herbs and such instead of prescription drugs. After years of little or no results with doctors I am trying a holistic doctor. It is a little expensive but this person seems to know what they are talking about. She mentioned alot of things that I have read on the internet and in books about the digestive tract and subjects like parasites, worms, leaky gut, good and bad bacteria, alkaline levels, etc. Any input would be appreciated.

My internist works with several naturopaths and is quasi-naturopath herself, despite going through regular med school.  Right now I'm taking Omega fatty acids, fiber supplements, probiotics, calcium citrate and vitamin D, and a multivitamin.  I've been on this regimen for a few weeks now and have noticed a slight decrease in the D, usually 5-10x/day instead of 10-20 like before.  I think there is something to be said for holisitic medicine if it is done properly and carefully!
