Eye drops

I have read that one should not use commercial eye drops routinely . Does anyone know a good recipe for eye drops ?

I would think distilled water plus ????? Mowing a dusty lawn seems to necessitate the use of some sort of cleansing and soothing solution . I would like to make up my own effective and inexpensive solution .

Hi Flyr,
Whenever I'm having dry or red eye I use good ol' Visine. The only problem with Visine is if ingested... It can give you major diarrhea and/or vomitting. I used to be a bartender and I heard horror stories of bartenders putting a few drops into a customers drink who they didn't like (being rude, bad tipper, etc.).
Anyway, I did a little search on Google for 'homemade eye drops' and I came across a couple websites that say to avoid them. Here is one: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/421501_6

Hi again 7Lil ,
Seems that I am keeping you busy . I too Googled and found nothing I wanted . I have a bottle of Visine here at my computer so shall continue to use it . Many times there is a simple replacement .
