I got a call from my doctor's office today and they want me to come in this week to talk with Meg.  I figure they must have found something from the parasite guru, otherwise they wouldn't want me to come in, right?  I'm going on Wednesday!  Could this be it???

Maybe they'll put in you a medical book for having more rare parasites than anyone else in the world! Better to hope they know how to get rid of all of them!! I sure hope they can and that you can be NORMAL again.

Thanks for the inspiring words, girls...I need 'em today, I'm a total garden hose and pained and nauseated out of my mind.  First day back at work after a week off and look what happens (even though work is like a vacation compared to being at home with the parental units!).  Just took some Zofran and Vicodin - soon I'll be off in lala land, ahh...can't wait.

Drumroll, please!!!

Sigh...don't bother: they found NOTHING.  Nada.  Zilch.  No parasites.  Parasite-free.  Parasiteless.

You would think I'd be happy for this news, but it's actually depressing.  Can't take a few courses of Flagyl to get rid of parasites that don't exist.

All they found was a bit of yeast in there and Meg is putting me on a four-week course of Diflucan once a week to get rid of that, but she doesn't think it's causing the illness.  She also went over the food allergy results, which were not very exciting and showed some very mild reactions to most dairy products.  She wanted me to make an appointment with the naturopath at her office to start on an elimination diet, but I just couldn't make that appointment today.  Too tired of all the run-around right now.  I don't think it's food intolerances causing this thing, whatever it is.  She seemed to think it was pretty unlikely as well, but I guess she wanted to offer something.

She did look at my hip and diagnosed me with bursitis; wants an x-ray and then a fluoroscopy-guided cortisone injection to decrease the inflammation.  So hopefully that will start feeling better soon.

I looked at her helpless face and said, "It's bound to get better or worse with time.  Now it's just a matter of waiting." She seemed to agree that's all we can do at this point.

Owowowowowow a cortisone injection. I think that's like "a new definition of pain and suffering." I've never had one, but everyone I know who's had one nearly cries. Wait, that's not very helpful and uplifting. Though I guess it's better than being unprepared. You may even decide your hip doesn't hurt that bad. But after it's over with, everyone gets pretty good relief and it tends to last several months or more.

Seems weird to put you on an elimination diet when you didn't test for any allergies. Maybe something can mess you up without you actually being allergic to it?

Have you come back around to the conclusion that you have Crohn's? That's probably more depressing to think about than cortisone shots, but I think I'd be worse depressed not knowing what's wrong. I mean, when you can say, "I have X disease," then it validates your being sick. When you're sick all of the time and can't tell people why, some of them will look at you funny. At least some of my doctors did when I went in with my GB pain that wouldn't come up on a test. A lot of them will get suspicious about giving you pain meds and the like too.

Regardless of what you have or don't have, I hope they find something that will help you. I once had this mysterious rash-less itching all over my body that kept me awake all night. I saw a doctor the next morning and he said he had been seeing people with that all of a sudden. Said they didn't know what cuased it--bed-ridden people would have it, but their caretakers and spouses wouldn't--but they knew a certain drug that worked on rashes fixed it, whatever "it" was. Maybe they should just experiment with you on a wide-variety of things just to see if they can find something that helps. The rash medicine worked, even though I didn't have an actual rash. Maybe Crohn's medicine will help you, even if you don't have it. Maybe having similar symptoms is close enough.

((((BIG HUGS))))
I'm sooooo sorry, Sarita. I was really pushing for you to have some exotic parasite (as bad as that may sound).
In time your "problem" will have a name. Hang in there and hope for the best.

Hey Sarita,  I just posted and someone told me I should talk with you...  Please read my post.  Would love to talk about your pain and problems.   I think we have a lot in common..  I have been to every doctor and hospital and all they say is IBS..   I have had it for 10 years and no luck.  I even had a hysterectomy thinking that was the problem.   Still sick.   Hope all is well with you.   Would love to chat.    Ryleigh
